“It’s vacay time!
Whether you are going on a road trip, staying in an AirBnb, a hotel, etc. food is always a factor. It’s great to pack snacks and drinks for a trip, but what about meals? With proper planning, meals can easily be prepared and packed for any trip.
Packing your meals takes the guesswork out of meal planning. The food will be readily available whenever you get hungry and it saves a few dollars that can go towards other vacation plans.
So here are a few great options, starting with Tuna Salad. Tuna is so versatile. It can be prepped beforehand or you can take all of the ingredients with you. All you have to do is open up a few cans of tuna, add mayo, mustard, relish, apples, and purple onions and you have a meal.
It can be eaten with bread, crackers, on a croissant, etc. You can keep it cold in a cooler or another option that I love, a hot/cold bag. I always make sure to pack ice in my hot cold bag just to make sure that my food and drinks are kept at the proper temperature. Hot/cold bags hold a lot of food and also take up less space than a cooler.
BLT’s (bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches) are also a quick and easy option. Bacon doesn’t take a lot of work to cook and can be served cold. Fry up some bacon, grab a few slices of sourdough bread, thousand island dressing, lettuce and tomato and your good to go!
One more lunch/dinner idea- Taco Bowls! They are fun to make and even more fun to eat. To make the taco bowls, all you have to do is brown your beef, add onion and season it with a package of taco seasoning. Open a bag of Fritos, cut up lettuce and tomato, add some shredded cheese and sour cream and you’re done.
Taco meat can be prepped ahead of time and even frozen until the day of the trip. Most hotels have a fridge and a microwave so this meal can be stored and heated when ready to eat. And of course, if you chose to stay in an AirBnB you will have all of the conveniences of a regular home.
I hope this article makes vacation meal planning easier! There are so many conveniences to make meal planning easier whether you are taking a road trip, staying in a hotel, an AirBnb, with a friend or with family!
