Do you know the difference between knowing your ‘why’ and having a passion? It is very important for you to know the difference when we are talking about business. Either if it’s taking photos, marketing, crafts, dog walking, social media, etc., you need to know WHY you are doing it, and WHY it’s going to get you across the finish line and lead you to success.

The Importance of Knowing Your ‘Why’
When it comes to your business you need to know your ‘why’ to give yourself and your business purpose. Having purpose will help steer your business in the right direction and making sure everyone is going along with you.
You need to ask yourself… Why am I starting this business?
No, seriously…why are YOU starting this business? And don’t just say it’s for the money, because money is just the result. Money can solve a lot of issues, but it won’t make you happy and help you get through the ugly messes of owning a business.
You have to dig deep and get specific.
When business is going great you aren’t going to care about your ‘why’. You are just going to be happy that your business is succeeding! Knowing your ‘why’ is going to be crucial when things go wrong and get messy. It will come in handy when you are sitting in the corner of your bathroom crying your eyes out because life and business is hard, and your screaming out to the universe: “WHY ME?!”
WHY YOU??? Because business gets ugly and can be headache. If it was easy, everyone would be doing love. You just have to hang in there, remember ‘why‘ you are doing this in the first place. Knowing that ‘why‘ is going to be the reason you get up every morning and try again.
Passion vs. Purpose
Definition time! Do you know the difference between your why (your purpose) and your passion?
Passion (n.): strong and barely controllable emotion.
Purpose (n.): the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.
Passion is a barely controllable emotion; that’s it, an emotion. In business, you have to make hard decisions, either when it comes to deciding if you want to expand, who to hire (because you know can’t hire everyone), how to manage finances, etc.. There are so many decisions that just have to be made, and you have to leave emotion out of it. When it comes to getting your business across the finish line and succeeding, emotion and/or passion alone is not going to get you there. That is why you need to have purpose, a direction.
Love, you need to know the answer to the question I mentioned above: Why are you starting this business? Why does this business matter to you?
Once you have your ‘Why’, that is going to motivate till you succeed and reach your goals. Nothing will get in your way!
